OBS

High performance broadband ocean bottom seismometers

Overview

Our range of OBS housings have been designed to perform at different depths via the most appropriate deployment method. Each can be combined with the sensor or sensors that will give you the dynamic range you require.

All of our OBS systems are fitted with a magnetometer to determine instrument orientation at depth to maximise data quality and your investment. To find out more about our
OBS range take a look at our Güralp OBS brochure GEOINTERNATIONAL INSTRUMENT S.A.C.,

Introducing Aquarius, a compact, free-fall OBS that offers the option of near real-time alert notifications for tsunami or earthquake early warning

We are pleased to introduce a new form of free-fall, stand-alone OBS that utilises acoustic telemetry to aid installation and data retrieval to depths of up to 6000 m. There is also an enhanced version, Aquarius+, that can deliver triggered event alerts to the surface in near real-time, and is controllable from the surface to retrieve more detailed data selected by time frame or by event. For more information see our Aquarius datasheet here.

Key Features

Key Features

Choose from:

  • Full autonomous operation with or without acoustic communication/alert capability
  • Real time cabled systems for incorporation into monitoring networks
  • Deployable by ROV, free-fall or on a winch
  • All OBS systems are fitted with a magnetometer to determine instrument orientation at depth
  • Option to incorporate differential pressure gauges (DPGs) or absolute pressure gauges (APGs) for applications such as tsunami early warning systems
